Nonviolence or Nonexistence

"Today there is no longer a choice between violence and nonviolence. It is either nonviolence or nonexistence. I feel that we've got to look at this total thing anew and recognize that we must live together. That the whole world now it is one--not only geographically but it has to become one in terms of brotherly concern. Whether we live in America or Asia or Africa we are all tied in a single garment of destiny and whatever effects one directly, effects one in-directly.

I'm concerned about living with my conscience and searching for that which is right and that which is true, and I cannot live with the idea of being just a conformist following a path that everybody else follows. And this has happened to us. As I've said in one of my books, so often we live by the philosophy 'Everybody's doing it, it must be alright.' We tend to determine what is right and wrong by taking a sort of Gallup poll of the majority opinion, and I don't think this is the way to get at what is right.

Arnold Toynbee talks about the creative minority and I think more and more we must have in our world that creative minority that will take a stand for that which conscience tells them is right, even though it brings about criticism and misunderstanding and even abuse."

Woman No Tie
"Few will have the greatness to bend history itself; but each of us can work to change a small portion of events, and in the total of all those acts will be written the history of this generation." — Robert F. Kennedy

All of our events strongly adhere to and enforce the "Nonviolent" philosophy embraced by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  If you cannot remain nonviolent, please do not attend our events.

Bernard M. Baruch (1870-1965), statesman and presidential advisor once stated: "Every man has a right to his own opinion. But no man has a right to be wrong in his facts."   The difference is this: facts are subject to verification and will be the same no matter who quotes them, whereas opinion is a private thing in the mind of a person, and is not within the reach of proof.

African-American leadership is facing an uphill battle in the fight for the life of the preborn child. This conference will share the tools we need to strengthen our stand against abortion and resolve the issues surrounding the moral responsibility of biotechnology in the African-American community.

Brian and Denise Walker
Denise Walker woke up from the anesthesia, she could hear other women screaming and crying, "Jesus, forgive me - I killed my baby." Suddenly, anger rose up in her. It started in her toes and rose up through her feet and legs. She pushed it down before it could rise further — but the anger did not leave her. It was January 1980 and Denise had just awakened after having her third abortion. When she and her fiancé Brian Walker discovered she was pregnant 4 months before their wedding, they panicked and were fearful. Though crisis pregnancy counseling existed at the time, they weren't aware of it. Feeling alone and desperate, they decided on abortion. They had no idea how this decision would affect the rest of their lives. Brian and Denise had met in college in 1977. However, despite his Presbyterian and her new age backgrounds, neither of them had a personal relationship with Christ. Denise grew up knowing nothing about Christ. But she did know about contraceptives, and between the ages of 15 and 25, Denise had been sexually active with 49 different men. They were without hope and without God in this world.
