Abortion In The Black Community
April 4, 2008 marked the fortieth (40th) anniversary of the day that the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated while talking on the balcony of his second-floor room at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis. Now, forty (40) years later, the African-American community is facing another tragedy.
A tragedy that many are not aware of and that rarely presents itself in any discussion of the challenges facing black people in America. A tragedy that many black elected leaders haven't voiced opposition to and have in many cases supported.
On Saturday, November 15th, 2008 the American Sentinel published a thought provoking article entitled: "Obama's Abortion War Escalates On Blacks, But Do They Care?"
The article boldly explores how abortion effects the Black community, acknowledges the overwhelming support Obama received from the Black community and questions if whether or not, by voting for a man who supports the very action (i.e., abortion) that is killing 5% of the black population, there exists a conflict of interest within the Black community and her leaders.
