Eliminate Abortion Funding!

California has a $17 Billion deficit. When our family healthcare services and public school programs are experiencing drastic spending cuts, why should we subsidize the abortion industry?

As the nation's largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood, reported $114.8 million in profit for 2006-07, while California Planned Parenthood affiliates have allegedly over-charged our state by $180 million.

Planned Parenthood, founded by eugenicist Margaret Sanger, has recently been recorded eagerly welcoming donations intended to specifically eliminate African American babies. Abortion has devastated the Black community and the citizens of California will not support such blatant racism with our tax dollars!

Very clearly, the abortion industry does not deserve our hard-earned tax dollars! Currently, $33 million of our state tax dollars pay for 95,000 abortions each year.

Not With Our Tax Dollars!

Whereas abortion is a private decision, it should not be funded with our tax dollars. Abortion is an elective procedure which, while legal, does not cure a life threatening disease or disorder. It is a choice that some make, and others abhor. Many life saving, life changing medical procedures are not as fully covered by tax dollars. Abortion neither needs nor deserves this special treatment. Abortion harms women. Abortion is an elective procedure that at current rates will affect one in three women. In addition to killing her child, Abortion harms women in the following ways.

Abortion Increases The Risk of:

Breast Cancer, as demonstrated by exhaustive studies
Subsequent Miscarriages, Premature Birth, and Infertility
 Depression and Suicide

We Therefore Request that California State Legislators Eliminate Abortion Funding from the 2008-2009 State Budget. The $33 million dollars spent annually on this elective procedure can better serve our state, especially the women and children citizens of this great state.

Margaret Sanger, Founder!

Planned Parenthood strives to be viewed as serving the women and minorities of our state, yet their roots go back to their founder, Margaret Sanger, a published eugenicist. This organization has not left these racist roots in the past.

In 2008, Planned Parenthood was recorded eagerly welcoming donations specifying killing black babies. While Planned Parenthood acknowledged this "employee mistake," (made by senior employees) no-one was fired. Californians need not do business with racist organizations. Nearly one third of all abortions are performed on African American women, while they represent only 7% of the US population.

The impact on Hispanic families is especially devastating, with 43% of the Medi-Cal abortions done on Hispanic women, not counting the 50% of all abortions done without indication of the motherÕs race.

California Planned Parenthood affiliates are alleged to have over-charged our state by at least $180 million, purchasing contraceptives at a discounted rate and then billing the state Medi-Cal program for 12 or more times the purchase price. San Diego/Riverside Planned Parenthood over billed our state by $5 million.

California Catholic Conference!

A state Catholic Conference is a Church institution which represents the bishops (and their dioceses) and allows for the coordination of the concerns of the Church in state public policymaking.

The California Catholic Conference staff communicates the California bishops' public policy priorities to the members of the legislative and administration branches of state governments and works cooperatively with other religious and secular agencies.

Thirty-four other states have Catholic Conferences. The executive directors of the various Conferences are members of the National Association of State Catholic Conference Directors (NASCCD ) which maintains a website with links to the other state Catholic conferences.

Our Church is made up of nearly 11 million Catholics in California representing 29 percent of the entire population in the state. They belong to 1,073 parishes located in 12 (arch) dioceses . They are served by 3,620 priests, 24 bishops, and two ArchbishopsÑone of whom is a Cardinal.
